What is SONY S-Log3 License?

Sony S-Log3 License is the license for WonderLookPro with IS-mini series hardware, which enables SONY promoting SR Live workflow with SONY proprietary S-Log3 OOTF. Introducing this license, you can implement equivalent viewing workflow without using SONY products, to SR Live workflow which uses SONY products, HDRC-4000, S-Log3 supported cameras which are SR Live supported products.


This license is given to LUTBOX hardware. The transform which contains S-Log OOTF is available only in the licensed LUTBOX.  


SONY's SR Lice workflow users rendering by HDRC-4000, and viewing with the monitor which has S-Log3 Live function. Both(1&2) results will be matched.

Following explanation is to achieve equivalent result above by using S-Log3 Licensed transform.


If you use S-Log3 License, you can do following workflow. You can apply "SR Live" without introducing HDRC-4000, or you can view the image without the monitor which has SLOG Live mode.

How to purchase the S-Log3 License?

S-Log3 License is the license given to the specific LUTBOX hardware. Currently, only IS-mini and IS-mini4K are supported. You have to inform the device information to the dealer before purchasing the license. Please refer to this page.

How to use the S-Log3 License?

After you've got S-Log3 License, you can use the LUT which includes S-Log3 OOTF in licensed LLUTBOX.

If you are setting non-licensed LUTBOX, you can select S-Log3 OOTF but you can not send the LUT which includes S-Log3 OOTF.

You can save the transform which contains S-Log3 OOTF, but you can not export it to LUT file even if you had a license. You can only use it by sending LUT to the licensed LLUTBOX.


If S-Log3 License was activated, as the screen shot below, S mark will be shown on the IS-mini's icon. It means this device can be usable of the transform which includes S-Log3 OOTF.



1. Select from Preset

The easiest way is to use the transform by selecting from preset transform lists.




On Color Correction Dialog, click "Preset" button and select "Sony S-Log3 Conversions" menu.



The 4 groups on the left is the groups of the transforms, the list on the right is the transforms which are included in the group.

By double clicking the group on the left, all of the transforms which are included in the group are loaded on the LookList.

By double clicking on of the transform on the right, or clicking "Apply Selected Look" button after selecting one of the transform on the right, the transform will be applied and added to the LookList.



On the LookList, the transform which includes S-Log3 Licensed transform, has S mark like above on the column of "Apply".



If you tried to send the S-Log3 licensed transform to non licensed IS-mini, as the screen-shot below,

 ①The gen-lock mark will be in red.

  ②License error message will be shown on the status line.



2. Select from Color Space Conversion function

You can select S-Log3 OOTF on the Color Space Conversion dialog.

For example, SONY F-35's S-Log can be used with S-Log3 OOTF to create HLG contents as following setting.



To select S-Log3 OOTF will be explained below.


First, by clicking "NONE" (whichever is fine) in Rendering section, the dialog to select Rendering will show up.

The following screen shot is the example with no Rendering selected.




On the left size, by clicking "OOTF for HDR" in "ACES 1.0/OOTF" tab, the controls are automatically activated, and "Rendering" selection on the right can be selected. You can find and click S-Log3 OOTF.


After that, please click "Select" button on the bottom to finish the selection.
